I n a nutshell, as an agreement made by the participants after a trip to Corregidor was halted in view of the bad weather condition, a heritage tour in Malolos, Bulacan was resolved. It is one of the unforgettable and learning experience from the DepEd participants. The place is immersed with Philippine history because it was one of the central meet up areas during the freedom fighting years. According to the participants, “It is the pride in our history as we share their knowledge and seeing the people of the town who are extremely approachable and highly accommodating.” DepEd Region III key personnel accompanied the RO9 team in visiting some historical places in Malolos Bulacan.
The group visited the Barasoain Church where the seat of the Revolutionary Government of the Philippines started. It is where the Malolos Congress convened on September 15, 1898. It was also where the Malolos Constitution was drafted. Barasoain
Church in Malolos City was the birthplace of the First Constitutional Democracy in Asia and because of the historical events, the government on August 1, 1973 signed a decree declaring Barasoain Church as a national landmark.
The Museum of Philippine Political History visited by the group was also valued for its vast collection of valuable relics, mementos, articles, documents and handicrafts of the Philippine revolution era. The warm hospitality of the people reflected a homy ambiance to the visitors.
