Region IX celebrates its enormous achievements for Brigada Eskwela-Gonosan ES, Molave, Zamboanga del Sur, Hall of Famer for sustaining achievements for three consecutive years as Best Implementing School, Small School Category and Zamboanga Sibugay Division garnered special awards for being the Most Innovative Implementer and for obtaining the Highest Percentage of Increase in Resources Generated.
The national awarding on December 15, 2017 was held at the Puerto Princesa City Coliseum in Palawan.
Such recognition is in line with the outstanding accomplishments of the schools in mobilizing community and stakeholders’ support to the Department of Education.
“This is also a great occasion, because we recognize the regions, the performers, and the contributors who have made Brigada Eskwela such a great success,” Sec. Leonor Magtolis Briones stressed during the said event.
A total of 136 elementary and secondary schools were identified as Best Brigada Eskwela implementers from the 17 regions under the small, medium, large and mega categories; 18 schools were identified with a Hall of Famer distinction.
Zamboanga Sibugay garnered the highest resources generated amounting to P44,956,661.44 and the most numbered diverse volunteers participation estimated to P181,922.00 both elementary and secondary.
Usec Tonisito Umali claimed that a total of P5.7 billion worth of resources nationwide was generated including infrastructure repairs and maintenance, in-kind donations, and volunteer man-hours. He further expressed that almost 12 million volunteers were mobilized during the Maintenance Week.
Meanwhile, Usec Lorna Dig-Dino appealed for everyone’s commitment in taking good care of every child in the classroom during her inspirational message in the same affair.
The awarding ceremony capped off by a performance of the winning Brigada Eskwela jingle anchored on the theme, “Isang DepEd, Isang Pamayanan, Isang Bayanihan Para sa Handa at Ligtas na Paaralan” performed by the Looc NHS, Misamis Occidental.
