Education Summit 2017: DepEd, stakeholders tie commitment; secure more pledges

Promoting genuine commitment towards ensuring quality education in the country, the trifocal education sectors-DepEd, TESDA and CHED collectively conducted an Education Summit which discussed issues and concerns that confronted the education sector on December 5-6, 2017 at Manila Hotel, Manila. 
The theme dubbed as, “Sustaining the Gains, Closing the Gaps” articulated on the status updates, key issues and the directions of the three sectors in ensuring quality education of the learners; to include the teachers’ welfare and its economic development.
Such gathering also considered the formulation of new policies and directions confronting education following their commitment. Feed backs and inputs were also generated from the stakeholders and their profound pledges.
Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones   highlighted on the importance of the gains in the education sector, and equally important, close the gaps. She further emphasized on “collective efforts in improving current and future initiatives and eliminating various barriers in the education sector, thus ensuring the delivery of quality, accessible, relevant, and liberating basic education for all.”
She further emphasized, “DepEd is a mammoth institution; we see it from our different perspectives and coming together in discussion and dialogue, I am certain we can all begin to see the bigger picture.”
Massive attendance of 1,500 participants nationwide were present during the event composed of all DepEd Regional Directors and key personnel. Region IX was represented by RD Isabelita M. Borres, three RO IX Chiefs, Schools Division Superintendents, Division Chiefs including the select School Heads and teachers participated in the said summit.
